Los Angeles Master Chorale Brings ‘Lagrime Di San Pietro’ To Krannert Center
A late 16th century choral piece has been reimagined with dramatic staging and lighting in the Los Angeles Master Chorale’s performance of “Lagrime di San Pietro,” coming to Krannert Center for the Performing Arts Saturday at 7:30pm.
The Orlando di Lasso composition, which translated is “The Tears of St. Peter,” features beautiful counterpoint from the Renaissance performed by one of the country’s leading professional choirs.
Master Chorale associate conductor Jenny Wong is a University of Illinois alumna. She’s not conducting this performance, but is traveling with the group to Champaign-Urbana. Illinois Public Media’s Brian Moline spoke with Wong about “Lagrime di San Pietro,” and her journey from the U of I to the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
