U Of I Announces System-Wide Raises
University of Illinois President Tim Killeen Tuesday announced system-wide raises for the upcoming academic year.
In an email to university employees Tuesday morning, Killeen said that the raises will be merit-based and average two percent across each unit, though individual raises will vary. The increases will take effect August 16th.
Killeen cited the recently passed state budget as one reason for the salary increases. The U of I will receive an additional $11.6 million compared to the current fiscal year, bringing the system’s state funding to just under $600 million.
Killeen said that the program will be available to most academic and civil service employees, except for those whose wages are set by collective bargaining.
