SEIU Awaits U of I’s Response, Talks to Resume
After two more days of negotiations, building and food service workers at the University of Illinois say they’re now waiting for administrators’ response to their counterproposal.
SEIU Local 73 Spokesman Adam Rosen said the union of almost 800 workers expects to hear a response from the U of I when the two sides meet again next Wednesday, March 27th.
SEIU held a 3-day strike last week, one the union says ‘severely crippled’ the university’s ability to serve food in residence halls and clean trash.
The strike was held primarily over wages.
Talks between the union and U of I went on for 9 hours between Monday and Tuesday.
