Jazz legend Christian McBride and his bandmates visited the University of Illinois campus last year to teach a series of masterclasses, leading up to a performance of his original composition “The Movement Revisited” at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.

As part of a special preview edition of Prairie Fire, Christian McBride talks about his journey, from growing up in Philadelphia in a musical family, to his early days learning on the job in New York City, to dedicating his time to spreading his love and knowledge of music through teaching.
