The group's facilitator, Samuel Byndom, spoke with Illinois Public Media's Brian Moline about the progress the task force is making on fixing racial disparities in the Champaign County criminal justice system.
Champaign County Board Chair Pattsi Petrie says she hopes to find 21 people to serve on a new Racial Justice Task Force, to study racial disparities in the county's jail population and justice system.
The task force would investigate racial disparity in jails and the criminal justice system, trying to figure out why African-Americans are over-represented in jails. It would then go to the board with proposed solutions.
