The Champaign-Urbana MCORE Project moves into “Project 4” phase on Monday, March 4, starting with connecting portions of Wright Street and Armory Avenue on the University of Illinois campus.
It is now a little easier to drive through the Campustown area in Urbana, with the opening of a portion of Green Street to traffic.
Now that the spring semester is over at the University of Illinois, the MCORE street enhancement project is launching construction work at additional locations throughout the Urbana-Champaign campus.
Passage of a new state budget in Springfield means it’s back to work for construction crews on several road projects in Illinois --- including the MCORE project in Champaign-Urbana’s Campustown.
Work on two federally funded road construction projects in Champaign-Urbana will have to halt --- unless state lawmakers and the governor act quickly this weekend to pass a budget to authorize the state to spend the money on the projects in the new fiscal year.
