Beginning next year, Illinois schools will be required to include the positive contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals in their history curriculum.

A parents’ group from the Chicago suburbs dropped its lawsuit that attempted to ban transgender students from using school restrooms and locker rooms associated with their gender identity, a move that supporters of transgender students say helps affirm the rights of  students across Illinois.   

Researchers will gather in Champaign for the Sixth Annual LGBTQ Research Symposium—a two-day event filled with workshops and discussions related to studying LGBTQ issues.
