Illinois voters will be able to register and cast their ballot at the same time - on election day, November 8th. The U.S. Court of Appeals handed down a ruling Friday that puts an end to a series of back and forth court orders issued in recent weeks. The court said it would not expedite the case.

A three-judge panel for the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago issued a ruling Monday that affirms an injunction that a federal judge in Indianapolis issued in February.
The imprisoned Democratic former governor had hoped the full court in Chicago might overturn more of his 18 convictions than the five counts a three-judge panel tossed in July.
An appeals court Tuesday threw out five of the twelve counts against the former governor. It's not immediately clear whether it means it will reduce his 14 year sentence.
