The Young Person’s Guide
On this week's Prairie Performances, Friday night at 7 pm on WILL-FM 90.9: Drawing from the talents of the young people in Champaign-Urbana, Sinfonia da Camera once again opens its concert season by featuring the high school and college winners of its 2017 Student Concerto Competition. Stella Faux, winner of the Youth Division, will be performing a movement from Kabalevsky’s Violin Concerto in C Major. Chia-Ying Chan and Hana Lim, winners of the Open Division, will be performing movements from Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 respectively. Rounding out the youthful program are the Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 by Edvard Grieg and The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra by Benjamin Britten.
