The Art of Bob Chapman
Artist Bob Chapment started in needlepoint and embroidery, but nowadays, he loves experimenting with many mediums. His colorful, eye-catching works have won him awards and a steady clientele. We got to spend some time at his studio and learn about his journey from designing needlepoint canvases to creating more colorful, experimental pieces.
Bob Chapman is one of the beating hearts of C-U’s creative soul. For longer than some of us have been alive, he’s been a mad scientist in our art scene, experimenting, creating, and inspiring with the energy of someone half his age. Bob Chapman shows everyone else how it’s done, one creative project at a time. The kind of legend who makes you believe that maybe, just maybe, dedicating your life to art isn’t such a crazy idea after all. (Amy Penne, Smile Politely)
"I began drawing and painting when I was 12 years old. Had no idea what art was or what it meant to be an artist, still don’t. Walked out of college right into my first business and never looked back. Doing commercial art most of my adult life was a wonderful training ground. I had to interpret other people’s ideas, use other people’s colors, and work fast and efficiently. These are all things that have made my own personal art work and artistic growth richer and more productive."
