Wisconsin Police Arrest Man Sought In Monticello Woman’s Death
Police in southeastern Wisconsin have arrested a man wanted in connection to two homicides in northern Illinois, including a woman from Monticello.
Beloit police say they arrested the 36-year-old Friday morning after a high-speed chase in Rock County.
The man is a suspect in the killings of 44-year-old Tonya Bargman and 37-year-old Todd Hansmeier.
Illinois State Police say Bargman was killed Tuesday at a rest stop near Paw Paw in north-central Illinois. They say surveillance video showed a man attacking the woman as she left a restroom.
Hansmeier was an insurance salesman from Rockford, Illinois. He was found dead of head and neck injuries Monday at a Rockford business.
“The cooperative effort and fast response of our District 16 troopers, Zone investigators and police partners in Winnebago, Rockford, Rock Island, and Beloit should be recognized as solid police work, said Illinois State Police Director Hiram Grau, in a press release. “Our thoughts are with the grieving families who have lost their loved ones and our hope is that this arrest will bring some closure to their pain,” he added.
