University Of Illinois Freezes Tuition, Re-elects Board Chair

The University of Illinois Board of Trustees has decided to keep the status quo in its leadership and in in-state student tuition.

At Thursday's meeting in Chicago, trustees voted to freeze incoming, in-state freshman tuition for the fourth consecutive year. This move is designed to keep more Illinois high school students in-state.

The tuition freeze will keep base in-state tuition at just over $12,000 per semester on the U of I's Urbana campus, around $10,500 on the Chicago campus and about $9,400 per semester in Springfield.

In other news, trustees re-elected Doctor Timothy Koritz to a second, one-year term as Board of Trustees chair. Koritz joined the board in 2009 and is a U of I alum. He's a doctor at OSF Saint James Hospital in Pontiac.
