Summer Means Construction At University Of Illinois
Construction projects are in high gear at the University of Illinois campus in Champaign-Urbana.
The News Gazette reports that at least five major projects are going on now that school is out and campus has fewer people around.
The $165 million, multi-phase renovation of the State Farm Center is one of the projects. Progress made this summer will largely lay the groundwork for bigger changes to come.
Other projects include the $95 million renovation of the Electrical and Computer Engineering facility, new dorms and a new center for wounded veterans. The more than $73 million renovation of the Natural History Building is to start next month.
