Sanguinetti Lauds Urbana Schools, Park District Cooperation

Illinois Lieutenant Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti is hailing cooperation between the Urbana Park District and the Urbana School District as an example for the rest of the state.
Sanguinetti spoke Tuesday at the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center, a facility owned by the school district and managed by the park district.
“They came together, and they shared all of these ideas, and now we have the aquatic center delivering services to the entire community," Sanguinetti said. "That’s the best practice right there at work.”
Sanguinetti says the cooperation between the two entities is one of the examples highlighted in a recent report published by her office that seeks to save money through consolidation and partnerships.
In addition to the Urbana Indoor Aquatic Center, the park district and school district also work together through the middle school SPLASH after school program, and with the use of park district facilities for Urbana high school baseball and tennis.
