Missing Person Investigation In Champaign Leads To Body Found In Clinton Lake

Champaign Police are waiting for an autopsy to tell them whether human remains recovered Sunday from Clinton Lake are that of Ashley Chemere Gibson.

The 24 year old resident of Champaign’s Garden Hills neighborhood was last seen a week ago. Police issued a missing and endangered person report on Gibson last Wednesday. And they say “recent information” led them to search Clinton Lake in DeWitt County on Sunday. They’re now treating the Gibson case as a death investigation.
