Mayoral Candidate Marlin Seeks New Direction For Urbana

After two terms as a member of the Urbana City Council, Diane Marlin is asking voters to choose her as their next mayor.
The retired dietician is one of three candidates running for the Democratic nomination for mayor in the February 28th primary. The other two are Evelyn Burnett Underwood and incumbent mayor Laurel Prussing. The winner will face Republican Rex Bradfield in the April 4th municipal election.
If elected, Marlin says she wants to take Urbana’s city government in a direction that’s different from the course set by Prussing for the past 12 years..
Marlin visited the WILL studios to talk about her goals for the city of Urbana with Illinois Public Media’s Jim Meadows.
In this web extra, Marlin explained her views on a new proposed development deal for downtown Urbana’s Landmark Hotel. The hotel closed last year, but a proposal with a new developer is expected to come before the city council soon.
