Kenyan Ambassador Calls For Calm Ahead Of Election Ruling

The Kenyan Ambassador to the United States hopes all parties abide by an upcoming court ruling on the country's most recent presidential election.
Kenyan Ambassador Robinson Githae, who was in Champaign-Urbana Thursday, hopes for peace after the court rules.
"We are hoping, and we expect Kenyans also, to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court, so this country can move on," Githae said.
Githae added he is grateful that the U.S. government is calling on both sides to accept the court’s ruling.
Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta won the August 8th election with 52-percent of the vote, avoiding a run-off election.
Challenger Raila Odinga claims voter fraud took place and has appealed the result to the Kenyan Supreme Court. He wants the court to throw out the vote and order new elections.
The ruling is expected Friday.
