Judge: Need More Time To Consider NCAA Deal

A federal judge in Chicago stopped short of granting preliminary approval for class-action concussions settlement against the NCAA. He says he needs more time to decide if it's a good deal.  

John Lee addressed the matter at a Tuesday status hearing hours after the sides announced an agreement.  

The provisions include the creation of a $70 million fund to diagnose current and former college athletes to determine if they suffered brain trauma playing contact sports.  

Lee focused his questions on the lack of damages payments in the deal. He says he wants to learn more about why that's the case.  

One plaintiff attorney is Jay Edelson and he wasn't part of the team that negotiated the deal. He told the judge absence of damages payments made it a bad agreement.
