Illini Baseball Team to Play in NCAA Tournament

Illinois was knocked out of the Big Ten Baseball tournament after three games --- but they’re still going to the NCAA tournament as an at-large selection.

The NCAA announced Monday that Illinois will play against number two seed Georgia Tech, in the Nashville Regional, this coming Friday, June 3.

The Illinois baseball team made the tournament --- and the number three seed --- on the strength of its regular-season record of 34 wins and 18 losses.

The NCAA regional berth earned by Illinois is its second in the past three years. In 2011, Illinois made it as far as Super Regional competition before being eliminated.
