Friday Concert, Saturday Reading Session For CUSO

It’s a busy weekend for the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra. Friday night they have a concert at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts in Urbana.
Then Saturday, they welcome five finalists from the CUSO Overture Composition Competition to the Hilton Garden Inn in Champaign for a reading session that’s open to the public starting at 10am.
Stephen Alltop is the music director and conductor of the Champaign-Urbana Symphony. He said it’s a great opportunity for the public to see how the symphony rehearses a new piece.
"We wanted as part of this wonderful Music Alive residency that we have with composer Stacy Garrop over these three seasons to have something that really engaged the community and composers," Alltop said.
Tonight’s concert at Krannert Center starts at 7:30pm, and their reading session at the Hilton Garden Inn in Champaign begins tomorrow at 10am.
