Former Illinois Lawmaker Faces Child Porn Charges

A federal criminal complaint has charged a former Illinois state representative with possession of child pornography.

A statement Monday from the U.S. attorney's office in Chicago accuses Keith Farnham of possessing two videos depicting child pornography on a computer. It was seized from the Democrat's state office in Elgin last month. 

The prosecutor's statement says the office computer that contained the videos was labeled, "Property of the State of Illinois House of Representatives.'' The 66-year-old has not been arrested. He is scheduled to make an initial court appearance Wednesday. 

Possession of child pornography carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.  

Farnham was first elected in 2008 and resigned from his seat March 19.

Telephone calls to Farnham seeking comment weren't immediately returned.
