Despite Funding Uncertainty, Courage Connection ‘Not Going Anywhere’

Courage Connection in Champaign is one of the nation’s oldest service providers to victims of domestic violence, operating continuously since it was started as “A Woman’s Place,” in 1971.
The organization was surprised to recently learn that a large portion of its state funding was not included in the stopgap budget set to expire on December 31st. Despite that setback, the group’s executive director says Courage Connection isn’t going anywhere.
Illinois Public Media’s Brian Moline spoke with Isak Griffiths about funding and the services that Courage Connection provides to the community.
