Convey To Hire 300 For Call Center In Former Decatur StarTek Location

The Decatur area lost 300 jobs when StarTek closed its call center in Decatur’s Fairview Plaza back in 2012. But now a health care technology company says it’s opening up in StarTek’s old space, and planning to replace those lost jobs with 300 hires of its own  --- and possibly more in the months to come.

Florida-based Convey Health Solutions announced Monday that it will open an office in the old StarTek space at Fairview Park Plaza

Ryan McCrady, president of the Economic Development Corporation of Decatur and Macon County says Convey was attracted to Decatur, in part because the local workforce includes many with call center experience.

“And this is not telemarketing”, said McCrady of Convey. “This is in-bound calling, customer support for the health care, health insurance industry.”

Convey Health Solutions specializes in customer care support for the healthcare industry. Their new Decatur facility will be their 9th call center nationwide.

McCrady says Convey is planning a job fair on August 11th and 12th 10 AM to 2 PM each day, at Richland Community College. Interested individuals can arrive at 9 AM to start the application proves. The Decatur/Macon County EDC says job seekers should dress professionally, bring copies of their resume and be prepared for an interview. The company is hiring to fill permanent, seasonal, full time and part time positions.

According to McCrady, Convey plans to have its Decatur staff in place by mid-September, for an October opening.
