Carle Illinois College Of Medicine Gets Preliminary Accreditation

The University of Illinois’ new Carle Illinois College of Medicine has taken a big step forward by passing a major accreditation hurdle.
The Liaison Committee on Medical Education has given the new College of Medicine preliminary accreditation, the first in three steps to full accreditation.
The next step will be accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission. But, the dean of the college, Dr. King Li, said this first step was an essential one.
"The medical school needs to have this level of accreditation before the medical school can recruit students," he said.
The Carle Illinois College of Medicine will now start reaching out to students to be part of its inaugural class in the Fall of 2018, and will be eligible for full accreditation when it graduates its inaugural class in 2022.
The University of Illinois is hosting open houses for prospective students on October 21 and November 18.
