ADM Opens New Chicago Headquarters

 

Archer Daniels Midland Company says it new downtown Chicago headquarters is open, with many of the employees having relocated from Decatur.

The agribusiness company said Monday that opened the new office with about 70 employees.

Spokeswoman Jackie Anderson said about 50 of those people moved from the company's former headquarters in Decatur in central Illinois.  The rest are new employees.
 
ADM decided in December to set up a new international headquarters in Chicago even after it failed to obtain millions of dollars in state tax breaks it sought to remain in the state.
 
The company is keeping a North American headquarters and about 4,400 jobs in Decatur.

“As we continue to grow our company, this location allows us to more easily reach global markets, while keeping us in close contact with U.S. farmers, customers and operations,” said Chairman and CEO Patricia Woertz, in a press release.

ADM has about 31,000 employees around the world.
 
ADM processes corn, soybeans and other crops to make everything from animal feed and food additives to ethanol.
