Mid-American Gardener: Landscaping for bees, using Roundup on grass, scale on star magnolia

Guest host Jennifer Nelson and panelists Jim Schuster, Bill Erickson and Mary Ann Metz cover topics ranging from how to remove scale from a star magnolia to using Roundup for grass around asparagus to helping grow the bee population. Erickson explains that spring is a crucial time for honey bees to replenish supplies of nectar. Good sources are early spring bulbs, bleeding hearts, witch hazel, blackberries and flowering quince, along with trees such as maples, alders and birch.
