Comedian Bill Maher Makes Career Of Being ‘Politically Incorrect’

Comedian Bill Maher has been hosting talk shows on television since his show “Politically Incorrect” made its debut on Comedy Central in 1993. He’s currently the host of “Real Time with Bill Maher” on HBO. Maher will be in Champaign to perform his stand-up comedy at the Virginia Theatre on Sunday night.
You might not think that someone who prides himself on being politically incorrect would have such a long career in television, but when Illinois Public Media's Brian Moline spoke to Maher earlier this week, he said he thinks that’s actually the reason for his success.
"Because you are doing something that audiences cannot find anywhere else," Maher said. "That I will never pull a punch, and I think that's the bond that I have with the audience."
"They might not always agree with what I say, but that's okay."
