The Evening Concert

Thursday night November 21 at 7:00 on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear another episode of “The Sound of 13”, a program that investigates the intersection between the 13th Amendment and classical music. At 8:00 it’s “The Middle”: a weekly, non-partisan call-in talk show on politics.  

Wednesday night November 20 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9F/HD1 you’ll hear Sir Simon Rattle lead the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Janacek’s “Sinfonietta” and Dvorak’s Opus 72 set of “Slavonic Dances”.

Tuesday night November 19 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Yuliana Avdeeva is the soloist in Chopin’s “1st Piano Concerto”.  Tugan Sokhiev guest conducts. Also on the program Tchaikovsky’s “1st Symphony”.

Monday night November 18 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. You’ll hear composers conduct their music, like Stravinsky and his “Firebird Suite” and Hindemith with his “When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom’d”.

Sunday night November 17 at 6:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear Louis Spohr’s “Grand Nonetto” from Lincoln Center followed at 7:00 by music from Mexico and Argentina on Fiesta and at 8:00 by Gateways Radio.

Friday night November 15 at 7:00 on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 it’s “Early Music Now with Sara Schneider”. You'll hear music by Binchois, Dowland and Handel. Broadcasting this program on Friday’s at 7:00 PM gives us time to collect new local recordings for use on future “Prairie Performances”.

Wednesday night November 13 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL 90.9FM/HD1 you’ll hear Riccardo Muti lead the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in Schubert’s “Mass No. 2” and Haydn’s “Te Deum”.

Tuesday night November 12 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 it’s the “Chicago Symphony Orchestra Radio Broadcast”. Music Director Emeritus for Life Riccardo Muti conducts the CSO in Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture, and the “5th” and “8th” symphonies.

Monday night November 11 at 7:00 on the “Evening Concert” on WILL  90.9FM/HD1 it’s “The New York Philharmonic This Week”. Leila Josefowicz is the soloist in Esa-Pekka Salonen’s “Violin Concerto” with Salonen conducting the Philharmonic.  Also on the program Ravel’s “Mother Goose Suite” and Sibelius’ “5th Symphony”.
