The Symphonies of Anton Bruckner
In the repertory of the famous German conductor Wilhelm Furtwaengler, the symphonies of Anton Bruckner have a special place. Bruckner's intense mysticism appealed in a special way to Furtwaengler, and influenced his own compositions. Most of his Bruckner performances were recorded at live concerts, some of them given under wartime conditions in Berlin.
On this week's Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11 am on WILL-FM, we will sample some of these recordings.
