The famous Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki died recently at the age of 87. He became famous early on with his daring “Passion according to St. Luke,” and earned a leading place in the post WWII avant-garde. As he grew older, his style grew more conservative, and, paradoxically, his music had a powerful attraction for film makers. On Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11 am on WILL-FM, we will hear some of the musical highlights of his career.
