Joseph Szigeti
Joseph Szigeti was one of the most famous violinists of the first half of the 20th century. More renowned for the interpretive depth of his performances than for his virtuosity, Szigeti made records from the 1920s to the 1950s, and critics claim that his technical finesse reached its height around 1930. On Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11 am on WILL-FM, we will hear Szigeti in portions of his earlier recordings of the violin concertos of Beethoven and Brahms.
