Ireland's scenic beauty as well as its songs and dances have found their way into symphonic music. Not only have such composers of Irish descent as Arthur Sullivan and Hamilton Harty tried to capture the Irish scene in music, but also non-Irish composers such as Arnold Bax.
On this week's Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11 am on WILL-FM, we will explore Ireland on the concert stage for St. Patrick’s Day.
Projected playlist:
Sullivan | Irish Symphony
Harty | Irish Symphony
Stanford | Irish Rhapsody No. 1
Bax | "The Garden of Fand"
