Famous Recording Debuts

It must be the dream of young performers to make that special recording that makes them world famous, and is the guarantee of a successful career. Such was the experience of Glenn Gould, whose recording of Bach's "Goldberg Variations" was released in 1956 to widespread acclaim. And there were others, such as the tenor Enrico Caruso, and the pianist Van Cliburn, who made famous recording debuts.
