The French, and others, did not "get" Berlioz during his life span (1803-1869), but the 20th century saw a Berlioz boom. After the LP came in around 1950, there was an explosion of Berlioz recordings. On Classics of the Phonograph, Saturday at 11 am on WILL-FM., we will hear how his music was conducted by such maestros as Toscanini, Beecham, and Munch.
