Many of us are still trying to make sense of what happened at last week’s election. The once and future President Donald Trump always had a decent chance of winning. However, it was surprising to many that he became the second Republican to win both the Electoral College and the popular vote in the last nine elections.

An author, historian, and political journalist who has covered Trump's hush money trial shares his thoughts on that and what factors led to the Democrats failing to appeal to a majority of voters in this most recent election.
