What does the infrastructure bill mean for Illinois and diversity?
President Biden signed the $1-trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill in November 2021. The bill will infuse billions of dollars into roads and bridges, ports, power lines, and broadband infrastructure. It also allocates funds for improving rail transportation, public transportation, and replacing lead pipes. To talk about how the bill will specifically affect Illinois and what it could do for diversity, we were joined by a reporter and the executive director of a pre-apprenticeship carpentry program in Chicago.
