The Need For Foster Parents Growing
As of May 31, 2021, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services reported 21,437 youth in care. In the last year during the pandemic, the department says it has seen an increase in the number of children in the foster care system and more foster care parents are needed to help provide safe and caring homes.
The 21st heard from advocates in the state about what it’s like to foster and be in foster care.
