The Growing Number of NIL Marketplaces
It’s been over a year since the Student-Athlete Endorsement Rights Act was signed into law in Illinois. The law allows Illinois-based college athletes to be compensated for their name, image, or likeness. College athletes now have to navigate the world of marketing, promotions and communications; dealing with things such as endorsement deals, contracts and negotiations.
To discuss the growing number of NIL marketplaces, The 21st spoke to Sam Weber, the senior director of communications for Opendorse, a company that operates NIL marketplaces for several Illinois colleges and universities.
