Kevin McCarthy was ousted from the post of US Speaker of the House of Representatives after less than nine months. The House isn’t scheduled to vote on who could replace McCarthy until at least next week with all legislative work suspended as the chamber navigates a situation never before seen in the nation’s history. Meanwhile, Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL) is once again publicly pressuring President Joe Biden to play a larger role in coordinating relocation efforts of asylum seekers. Thousands have been bussed to Chicago from Texas.
