Interview: Illinois Senate President Don Harmon
Today on The 21st, we began with a conversation about Illinois state government. The General Assembly has planned an truncated legislative session this spring, which should have been well underway by now. Instead, the omicron surge led lawmakers to cancel all but one scheduled meeting day in January. The early days of session would have been mostly about committee work, and legislators have been meeting remotely to get the ball rolling on various proposals. Up for consideration are ideas about criminal justice, education, taxes, spending, and so much more that affects all of our lives. To talk about all of these issues and more, we were joined by the Illinois State Senate President, Don Harmon.
