Illinois police now required to take course on wrongful convictions

Efforts are underway to help lessen the amount of wrongful convictions there are. Since 2016, the University of Illinois Police Training Institute has offered a course on wrongful convictions and awareness. But starting this year, the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board made the course mandatory for all new police recruits across the state.
The 21st was joined by two people from the organization that help design the course and an exoneree.
