A new study predicts by 2053, more than 1,000 counties, including many in Illinois, will experience heat indices (or "feels like" temperatures) of 125 degrees or higher. A key challenge for building new climate-resilient homes is universally agreed upon building codes.
We speak with the author who broke this story, an architect who studies sustainable design, and an Illinois state climatologist to help us make sense of our future.
