IL Native Theo Germaine On Queer Representation In TV

Theo Germaine was working at a coffee shop in Chicago when they got a call about a role in a new Netflix series. That call changed their life. 

Theo, an Illinois native, plays “James” in the Golden Globe-nominated Nextlix series, "The Politician." And they also play the character of Chris in the Showtime comedy set in Chicago called "Work In Progress."

Theo identifies as gender-nonbinary and many of the characters in Netflix’s "The Politician" engage in queer relationships, but gender and sexuality aren’t a major plot point. Theo joins us to discuss their role, their take on LGBTQ representation in Hollywood and their experience growing up in central Illinois.
