Criminal Justice Reform In The Era Of Legal Cannabis

Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton's office leads the state’s Justice, Equity and Opportunity Initiative. She joined us to discuss the state's efforts to bring more people of color into the cannabis industry, reinvest in struggling communities and help people with criminal records for low-level cannabis offenses get their records cleared.

One of the changes people are hoping to see since the legalization of marijuana is a more equitable weed industry. Governor J.B. Pritzker has repeatedly said this is not just about bringing in much-needed revenue to the state it’s also about reinvesting in black and brown communities that have been hurt by the “war on cannabis.”
